FAQs

To support you in your kitchen journey, we've answered your most frequently asked questions below...

I'm building a house - when should I talk to you about a kitchen?

As soon as possible! Although architects often include a kitchen in your drawings, it’s not a fully considered design. Most builders will want to plan electrics, plumbing and drainage as soon as planning permission is granted. If you don’t want the kitchen to be compromised, we recommend visiting us to talk about your specification as soon as planning has been accepted. We can work from your approved plans but will always do a site visit to double-check measurements before ordering your new kitchen.

Which areas do you cover?

Although our Showroom is in Helston, we have designed kitchens for projects all over Cornwall including Truro, Falmouth, Penryn, around the Helford, St. Mawes and the Roseland, St Austell, Boscastle, Rock, Newquay, Hayle, St Ives, Lands End, Penzance, Newlyn, Redruth, Camborne and the Lizard.

Do I need to provide measurements?

Before taking measurements or working on any designs we recommend a visit to our showroom so you know if we can supply the kitchen you are looking for, within your budget and specification.

If you are working on a new build project we are happy to work from architects plans initially.

If you have a kitchen to refurbish, we will conduct a site visit to take accurate measurements as well as survey the room for any installation issues that may need flagging up (location of draining, boilers, pipework etc).

However, we will always do a final site visit to double check the measurements for your preferred design before placing an order.

Do you supply accessories & appliances

We are a NEFF and Siemens 5* Master Partner and supply a range of luxury Gaggenau or Liebherr appliances. We undergo constant training to ensure we are kept up to date with new technology and have a range of working appliances in our showroom, so we can demonstrate relevant functions to you.

We can supply all elements for your project and offer sound advice on the finishing touches whether it is worktops and handles, or sockets and taps. We collaborate with high-quality suppliers for everything from specialist worktops and splashbacks to statement lighting and flooring. We design a huge range of practical storage solutions that support your own unique lifestyle.

Do you oversee the project?

When using our fitters, Now Kitchens will be on hand to project manage the whole process, ensuring any issues are resolved as quickly as possible. We work with our fitters to coordinate plastering, electricians, plumbers, skip hire, relevant building works etc. When installation is complete, we carry out a site visit to identify any outstanding issues and won’t step back until everything is completed to your satisfaction.

Do you supply only?

We are happy to design and supply your kitchen if you prefer to use your own fitter/builder, electrician/plumber etc. We will ensure that your team have all the relevant plans and fitting instructions needed.

How much do your kitchens cost?

We specialise in semi-bespoke solid kitchen units from high-end manufacturers and as such can’t compete on price with flat-pack suppliers, but are typically cheaper than a hand-built kitchen.

We recommend a minimum budget of £18,000 plus fitting for an average sized kitchen to include solid worktops and full suite of appliances. However, the costs can vary, depending on your specification and room size – we have designed kitchens that cost as little as £12,000 to over £70,000. We always do our best to design to your budget and won’t over-sell to you.

Our independent fitters can provide a quote once your design has been approved. Fitting costs could cost from £2,500 for a dry fit to over £10,000 for more complex works (such as building works, new plumbing/electrics and lighting, flooring, decorating etc.).

How long does the process take?

Following the first showroom consultation and measure up home visit, we will produce the initial designs within a few days. We then work closely with you to personalise to refine the design as quickly as possible. Since our kitchens are made to your specific design they typically take at least 6-8 weeks to be manufactured.

Installation dates depend on our fitter availability – they are often booked several months in advance. A standard kitchen refurb typically takes 2-3 weeks to fit plus a further week whilst solid worktops are made to fit. However, this depends on the complexity of the design and any associated building/electrical/plumbing/decorating works.

How is the kitchen signed off?

Once everything in your new kitchen has been installed, including worktops and splashbacks, we conduct a site visit to review all the elements in detail – a final snagging list can be created if necessary, and we will coordinate with the fitters/suppliers to ensure any issues are corrected in a timely manner.

At this time we will run though some of the key features of your appliances and provide an information pack for your beautiful new kitchen, including care advice, supplier contact information and warranty information for all your equipment.

What are the warranties?
