Our Eco Credentials
Living in Cornwall we all naturally spend a lot of time outdoors, enjoying everything that our beautiful county has to offer. As such, we are aware of how climate change and pollution are making our world more fragile. So that’s why it’s become important for us as a business to make environmentally aware and sustainable choices whenever possible. Find out how Now Kitchens and our suppliers are doing our bit for the planet:
CLIMATE NEUTRAL
When choosing our German kitchen supplier, we selected carefully based on their excellent eco-credentials, as the first kitchen furniture manufacturer to have its entire range certified as climate neutral. They have numerous initiatives that promote their commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
REFORESTATION
Both our British and German kitchen suppliers use Eggerboard products for their doors and cabinets. Eggerboard wood comes from 100 % verified legal and controlled sources, and the company supports several international reforestation projects.
Plastic Reduction
We recommend installing a Quooker Cube to replace power-hungry kettles and to provide sparkling and filtered water on-demand. On average each recyclable CO2 gas canister in the Cube supplies 60l of sparking water - that saves 120 x 500ml plastic bottles!
ECOLOGICALLY AWARE
Our German kitchen supplier predominantly uses an environmentally friendly water-based paint system and paint laminate with a high recycled content (>50%).
CLEAN AIR
Our German doors have a 'PURemission' Air Protection System - they promise significantly lower levels of formaldehyde expulsion from wood-based products into your home.
Going Electric
We've changed our company van to full electric. This has been done to promote clean air across Cornwall.
REnewable Energy
We have chosen Cosentino as our main Quartzstone and Sintered Stone suppler (Silestone and Dekton®). 100 % of the electrical energy consumed in their Spanish Industrial Park is certified renewable energy.
Our German supplier has five biomass boilers which are fired with wood waste from production, allowing their administration building to be heated in a very efficient and environmentally friendly way.
Recycling
One of our key worktop suppliers, Silestone, uses 99% recycled water in their production process. 19 Silestone® colours (Hybriq+) and 25 Dekton® colours are made with at least 20% recovered recycled glass and minerals.
At Now Kitchens we recycle all cardboard waste from our warehouse and promote a paperless design, quotation, and invoicing system. We also provide downloadable brochures via our website.
