With so many different materials available, choosing the right worktop can be confusing. During your design consultation we will guide you through the range of finishes to suit your lifestyle and budget.
Sintered Stone is manufactured by compressing stone chippings and then firing them at high temperatures. This makes surfaces heat, scratch and stain-resistant. It is the only worktop that you can place a hot pan directly onto. Often it is specified with an ultra-slim 6mm or 12mm profile, ideal for minamalist modern kitchens. In our showroom, we have a wide choice of finishes and colours from key suppliers Neolith and Dekton.
Quartzstone worktops are a blend of resins and natural stones and minerals. They are extremely durable and low maintenance, with a wide choice of colours, patterns, and finishes depending on whether you are looking for a traditional marble effect or contemporary concrete design. The main brands we have samples of are Caesarstone, Unistone, Silestone and Duke Stone's Coastal Range.
New Silestone 'HYBRIQ / HYBRIQ+ technology' is a durable hybrid surface. It replaces 20% of the quartz minerals with recycled material, making it an even more sustainable product.
Granite is a natural stone with some stunning patterns and colours. Mined from quarries all over the world, each slab is unique, so we always advise customers to visit our local stonemason to choose their own piece. Whilst granite does require some maintenance, it is extremely durable and still remains a popular choice for traditional-style kitchens.
Corian is a brand name for a worktop material formed from a combination of polymer and natural minerals. Using a process called ‘thermoforming’ Corian can be moulded to create virtually seamless, organic shapes, with bold effects of colour and translucency to allow back lighting creating unique, statement pieces.
Wood creates a warm and ‘homely’ feel to a traditional kitchen or a striking design feature used with a modern handleless styles. Since no two pieces of wood are the same, each worktop will be unique. Just bear in mind that wood may need maintenance every few months especially around sink areas.
Both our kitchen manufacturers have their own range of high-quality bespoke laminate worktops, available in a selection of life-like stone, wood and metallic finishes. Offering superb value, they will allow you to invest more in beautiful kitchen furniture as an alternative to solid worksurfaces.
